I am still having to pay a lot of attention to all the steps needed to set up a robust promotion of my affiliate links.
Today, in my haste to get only, my second solo advert running, i made a rather fundamental mistake that effectively saw me waste the investment on the requested clicks.
Thankfully is was only a small advert of 200 clicks, but still to get it so wrong was so disappointing.
I spent a great deal of time building a well structured landing page to present an offer called ‘The Iceberg Effect‘ and attaching to my auto-responder, to ensure i keep any of those interested in the offer at hand.
My mistake came when i signed up for the solo advert and decided to use a URL shortener to make sure link link address was short and concise (as i haven’t yet got a dedicated URL).
I generated the the shorter URL in the software and instead of clicking the copy icon I decided to highlight it myself and then click copy. In my haste, I thought i had copied the full URL, but didn’t realise I had missed the last digit.
So i then rushed and submitted my link to the solo ad provider.
It was only when the clicks had been sent to my link, did i notice i was getting no subscribers at all.
After the full 200 clicks had been delivered i finally checked my link to identify i had missed the single digit that made completely unusable and i had missed the chance of some new subscribers.
A lesson well learnt, that i hope i will take that little extra time, in future to double check the basics
Oh dear! My take on this is that you got ahead of yourself in your excitement. Iād say this is a lesson for all of us!
I had a teacher at University that used to say: “we are in a hurry, let’s slow down”. Apparently, it was to avoid those kind of distraction mistakes done in the excitement. There! A slap on the wrists for you! š
